Research experimental physics focussing on the dynamics of pattern formation.
The investigated systems can be devided into (complex) fluids and (wet) granular matter.

1. Individual glass particles suspended in water;
2. Their collective assembly to mushroom-like structures;
3. The time sequence of a suspension in a rotating drum demonstrates demixing;
4. Artificial creeping dunes created by shear flow;
5. A drop of a magnetic liquid (ferrofluid) before pinch-off;
6. Spatio-temporal image of convection rolls in a liquid crystal.

of the materials used.
